 | Perth house search completed | |
 | Australian Federal Police (AFP) officers have completed their search of a house in the Perth suburb of Subiaco and have started examining evidence they seized.
The search is believed to be related to the investigation into links between some overseas trained doctors and terrorism.
Police left the Coghlan Street residence early this morning after examining the house overnight.
Several items were removed from the house and placed into evidence bags.
The AFP is refusing to say why a search warrant was executed but concedes it is part of an ongoing investigation.
The search comes a week after similar raids at Royal Perth Hospital and Kalgoorlie Hospital.
Officers will now start sifting through the evidence to determine whether any charges will be laid.
The WA Health Department says it has not been told whether any of its employees are being investigated.
Federal Attorney-General Philip Ruddock says he is not aware of the nature of the Perth raid, but he has told Channel Ten the counter-terrorism laws have been used appropriately.
"I think the laws have been balanced and appropriate, and in large, measure appropriate for the risks that we face," he said.
"But that doesn't mean to say there won't be fine-tuning arising from the particular experiences that might flow from current investigations, but this is not the first time these laws have been used."
