 | Perth dumped baby to be christened, buried | |
 | A donated headstone will mark the burial plot of a baby boy found dead at a Perth rubbish recycling plant last month.
The newborn was believed to have been dead for a week when his body was discovered in a handbag among household garbage at the Atlas Recycling facility in north suburban Malaga.
He will be buried on Saturday.
The child's mother has not come forward, despite police pleas, and detectives have conceded they may never know her identity.
Pamela Castensen, regional manager of the Mareena Purslowe and Associates funeral company, said the baby would be buried in a donated christening gown at Perth's Karrakatta cemetery on Saturday morning at 10.45am (WST).
"I think there will be a lot of people there," Ms Castensen said.
A donated monumental headstone would probably bear a biblical name, affectionately chosen to refer to the baby boy by funeral staff, who cannot legally name the child, Ms Castensen said.
White doves, also donated, will be released during the funeral proceedings.
An autopsy has failed to determine the baby's cause of death but the investigation is ongoing.

The correct spelling of Bundaburg Queensland, is Bundaberg. | | | | |
