| $5m to help heritage building owners
The National Trust of Queensland has welcomed $5 million in new state funding as part of a grant scheme to help owners of heritage buildings.

President Diane Menghetti says the funding will enable owners to seek help with the cost of repairs and maintenance, as well as for projects which encourage the continued use of historic buildings.
Diane Mengheggi said it is the first time in three years the funding has been available for Queenslanders.
"The regime we've been living under is a regime where if you buy a property that is important locally or to the state ... the only thing you get is some sort of regulation about what you can do about it ... whereas having a heritage property should attract special help because you're preserving it not only for yourself, but also for the general public," she said.
