Emotional appeal after hit-and-run tragedy
Police are hunting a driver who ran down and killed a 38-year-old Perth man, before speeding away.
Police say Brian Winmar was dragged along the road for 80 metres and died before paramedics could get to him.
Mr Winmar was hit by a car outside his house on Beacham Crescent in Medina at about 1am this morning.
Today, his two best friends, who he also lived with, made a tearful plea for the driver to give himself up.
"Whoever has done it, has gotta live with themselves," said Clint Lewis.
"It's not gonna bring my bro back hey, but you should just [do it], so everyone knows what has happened."
It is believed Mr Winmar was lying on the road when he was hit.
Police say the driver stopped at a neighbour's house and knocked on the window for help.
But when the neighbour came outside, they got back in the car and drove off.
An autospy will determine whether Mr Winmar was still alive underneath the car, when the man driver off.
Clint Lewis and Donna Carr say Mr Winmar had just started to get his life back on track, after rehab.
"Brian and I were both pretty well just street kids, you know and in the last three years we just turned our lives around together,' said Mr Lewis.
"Brian was an excellent person, good to everybody and would do anything for anyone," added Donna.
The driver is still on the run.
Anyone with any information should call Crimestoppers.
