They had first visitedAgnes Water - 1770 in the 1980’s, and, on being offered the opportunity to take on the caravan park they jumped at the idea. Even though they are based in Maroon on the Fraser Coast, they have had considerable experience in managing caravan parks and retirement villages in various locations around the country.
Some of these where on a relief basis and some on a permanent basis and included the Gold Coast, Brisbane, various locations in Tasmania and the NSW Central Coast. They have just finished a 30 month tenure managing a village with 245 homes on the NSW Central Coast which they found demanding but rewarding, but are glad to be back in Queensland.
When they managed the Strahan Caravan Park they where amazed at the constant number of European visitors. Comparing it with 1770 they see a similar trend, and presume it is being promoted hard on the overseas visitor’s circuit.
Up until the last six years Ronda always worked in the restaurant field including operating her own, Ronda-vous on Fifth, at Palm Beach for six years.
Pat had spent 22 years farming bananas and coffee at Tyalgum, near Mt Warning in NSW. He and Ronda also processed and wholesaled their own coffee under the Tyalgum Ridge Coffee Label, (and retailed it in Ronda’s café).
Pat and Ronda haven’t had a chance to go on any of the tours yet, so they rely on there staff to inform their guest as to various attractions around the area. They soon hope that situation will soon change. The only place they are familiar with is Eurimbula National Park, as they have stayed their in the past.
