Baffle Creek
Baffle Creek is still relatively undiscovered. Situated on the on the southern end of the Queensland Discovery Coast, the area is bounded by Baffle Creek and Euleilah/ Oyster Creeks and Deepwater National Park, offering much to see and do for the Queensland holiday maker or day tripper.
Access to Baffle Creek is via Bundaberg from the south and Miriam Vale to the north. Four wheel drive access from Agnes Water/1770 through Deepwater National Park is well worth the trek along the Discovery Coastline with a break at Wreck Rock for a refreshing swim. (Please remember that no pets are allowed in the National Park).
Broadwater is a large estuary of Deepwater, Mitchell, Blackwater and Cow Creeks. A venture to the Broadwater, within walking distance of the surfing beach of Rules Beach, well worth putting on your list of thing to do and see.
Continuing south along the Discovery Coast is the main access to the 10 Kilometre stretch of Rules Beach. Numerous gutters, as well as Fingers Reef, are in easy walking distance from the access road and offer’s a good fishing spot. If you decide to go for a swim, watch out for rips.
The boat ramp at Flat Rock Picnic Reserve is generally the launching area for those that want to venture out to the ocean. It would be wise to ask a local, or survey the area at low tide to find the channel to the mouth of Baffle Creek as is quite tricky, and should only be attempted at high tide.
Flat Rock is also an excellent fishing spot for the land based angler. Boat fisherman can access both Baffle and Euleilah Creeks from the Flat Rock boat ramp, and on both sides of the old ferry crossing near Wartburg School on the north side of Baffle Creek.
