1770 foreshore and Endeavour Park have been named Queensland’s Friendliest Beach 2006. Keep Australia Beautiful Queensland announced the winners of the annual Clean Beach Challenge.
Dive 1770 New Dive Boat
New Dive Boat for Dive 1770. Dive 1770, the original dive operator in the Town of 1770 and Agnes Water has been conducting dives out to Queensland’s Southern Great Barrier Reef and 1770 local dive areas with certified and introductory dives since 2003. Dive 1770 services also include PADI dive courses from open water to dive master and selling and servicing scuba diving equipment.
Agnes Water Surf Life Saving Club
A Junior Surf Life Saving Program (Nippers) is conducted by Agnes Water Surf Life Saving Club on Sunday mornings for 5 to 13 year olds. This is a fun program where participants are taught about surf safety and awareness, lifesaving and rescue skills surf sports skills and other life skills.

Captain Cook Monument The Doorway of Destiny
Baffle Creek Chronicle posted an article by Scott Bankier on Captain Cook 'The Door of Destiny' Monument at 1770 Headland, it talked of the supernatural powers and the social focus it provided over the years. John Elliot’s grandfather, Phillip Llewellyn Elliot of Taronne, was the first white man since Captain Cook to set foot at Round Hill, (Today known as 1770). He cut the first buggy track through the heavy sand between Agnes Water and Round Hill (1770) in the 1920’s. The early locals always called it Round Hill, It was only in the lead up to the 1970 celebration of Captain James Cook’s landing in May 1770 that it became known as The Town of 1770.

Baffle Creek Mobile Phone Coverage
A new mobile phone tower in Baffle Creek will provide new or improved CDMA mobile phone coverage to nearly 1800 residents in the area, the Minister for Communications, Information and the Arts, Senator Helen Coonan said this week.
The Minister was in Hinkler with local member Paul Neville to officially open Baffle Creek tower which was the fulfilment of commitment she made when visiting the Baffle Creek region last year.

There has been a great response from Agnes Water Surf Clubs young members to the YIP (Youth Incentive Program) that has been introduced into the club this year. This youth development program is designed for young people aged 12 yrs to 20 yrs. The program offers cub members the opportunity to receive recognition for their service within the Ages Water Community, through a point reward system.

Agnes Water State School students entered the Opti-MINDS Challenge this year for the first time, and were extremely successful. The Agnes Water Team had won their Queensland division under 12 on September 17. As Queensland representatives, they were invited to the next level of challenge in Taranaki New Zealand to participate in the language and literature Opti minds challenge.
