Nestled in bushland, Cedar Galleries Artists Village features the work of the best Central Queensland Artists and Craftspeople. Visitors can enjoy the artwork in the Galleries, watch demonstrations by artists and craftspeople at work in the Studio Workshops, or just relax and enjoy the surroundings.
The Artists Village consists of two Art Galleries, a Gallery Shop, cafe, artist’s studio’s, a Chapel, an Animal Farm, and the first stage of a Sculpture Garden. Our aim is to provide an inspirational working environment for artists and develop a cultural experience for visitors, where they can interact with artists and craftspersons, watch them at work and learn from them.
The Cedar Galleries Compex also contains an operating Sawmill. Leased to JJ Davies the Ten Chain Sawmill operates commercially to cut select species Hardwood for supply to the local building and timber trades. The Mill produces timber for both retail and wholesale markets. Although not modern the advantage of this type of mill is the operators ability to produce commercially viable non-standard sizes of sawn timber in small quantities.
Set on 28 Acres the property also contains a residence and 2 accomodation flats.
The Galleries have featured in newspaper and magazine articles in the Courier Mail and the Australian Women’s Weekly, on ABC Radio and television, as well as winning the 1999 Central Queensland / Southern Reef Regional Tourism Award, and the QR Traveltrain Tourism Awards 2000, for the Regional Attraction Award.
