The town of 1770's name commemorates the first landing of the famous explorer James Cook on Queensland soil in the same year, and is claimed as the birthplace of Queensland.
Lady Musgrave Island is only 40 kilo-
metres offshore from 1770 and is arguably the most beautiful of all the Barrier Reef coral atolls.
Together with adjoining coral reefs, Hoskyn and Fairfax, it can be easily reached by 1770-based charter boats, or by medium sized power boats.
Through the forest are two tracks taking guests through to a secluded surf beach on the Pacific ocean. This beach can be used throughout the year, as there have never been reports of Box Jelly Fish. It is the last surf beach for North bound travellers.
The area offers numerous secluded spots for excellent estuary, inshore and offshore fishing. Fishing tours can be booked at our reception.
A tour with the amphibious vehicle
The Lark is a great way of discovering the National Park.
Tours can be booked at our reception.
