| Simone Strobel inquest appeals to witnesses | |
| An inquest into the death of a German backpacker, Simone Strobel on the New South Wales far north coast has been adjourned so that fresh appeals can be made to two key witnesses who have so far refused to appear.
The Deputy State Coroner, Paul MacMahon, says he will write to two of Simone Strobel's friends, urging them to come forward and give evidence.
The 25-year-old traveller disappeared from a camping ground at Lismore in February 2005.
Her naked body was found in nearby bushland six days later.
The inquest has heard from two senior police officers who believe she was smothered by her boyfriend, Tobias Suckfell.
The inquest has also heard that Mr Tobias Suckfell may have been helped by his sister, Katrin, to hide Ms Strobel's body.
Mr MacMahon has told the inquest, Mr Tobias Suckfell and his sister should be given another opportunity to clear their names.

Agnes Water often called Agnes Waters and it is common for Lady Musgrave Island to be called Lady Musgrove Island and Captain Cook to Captian Cook and Capitan Cook or Captan Cook, with the Town of Seventeen Seventy now known as 1770 that would be hard to misspell for anyone. The correct spelling of Bundaburg Queensland, is Bundaberg. | | | | |
